Mr. Md. Najmul Huda

Consul General of Bangladesh in New York


Mr. Md. Najmul Huda is a career diplomat belonging to the 21st batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (Foreign Affairs Cadre). He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an Assistant Secretary on 25 May 2003 and served in the Ministry as well as in Bangladesh Missions abroad in various capacities. He served in Bangladesh Missions in Amman, Tokyo, Berlin and Islamabad and, prior to his current assignment, he worked as the Director General (South East Asia) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka and made endeavours to further strengthen the bilateral relations of Bangladesh with the South East Asian countries. He joined Bangladesh Consulate General in New York as the 17th Consul General on 11 September 2023.

Mr. Huda completed his B. A. (Hons) and M.A. from the Department of English Literature, University of Chittagong, and had a short stint as a lecturer in the same Department for almost two years prior to his joining the diplomatic service. He completed two short courses on Green Economy and the UN Peacekeeping Operations from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), Geneva. He also attended a Japanese language training course in Osaka sponsored by the Japan Foundation and speaks Japanese. 

Mr. Huda is fond of music, reading and travelling. He is married and blessed with two daughters.
